Chillicothe Municipal Utilities would like to remind our customers that many outages during fall months are caused by squirrels. This time of year, before winter chill sets in, squirrels and other animals are actively storing food. This increased animal activity around power lines and transformers, on top of utility poles, crossarms or other electric equipment can cause both instantaneous outages as well as extended power outages. Unfortunately, in the past month the increased squirrel activity has affected the reliability of our electric system.
Chillicothe Municipal Utilities asks for the public’s patience as we navigate the seasonal change, and to utilize our Hometown Grid outage system if you do experience an electrical outage that affects your power service longer than an intermittent blink.
If you need to report an electrical outage, please call or text Hometown Grid 888-906-5510 to report your outage to the dashboard.
